* Lecturer Introduction: Andy Wheelock is a drummer, percussionist, composer, and educator. Based in the Front Range region, Wheelock is an active performer and founding member of Live Edge Trio, Whee3trio, and KEWO. He has also performed with Gonzalo Teppa Quintet, Ben Markley, New Stream Brass Ensemble, the University of Wyoming Jazz Faculty, and the Cheyenne Symphony, showcasing his diverse musical talents on various stages. Wheelock's musical prowess has been recognized through collaborations with renowned artists such as Adam Birnbaum, Bill O'Connell, Craig Handy, Ernie Watts, SK Kakraba, Jorge Glem, Bobby Shew, Chuchito Valdés, Joel Frahm, Henry Linarez, Bob Bowman, Ivan Trevino, and William Moersch. As a composer, Wheelock is actively involved in his own album projects, as well as composing for big bands, percussion ensembles, samba baterias, and Pan-African-Latin ensembles. His debut album as a leader, View From Here ft. Ernie Watts, received high praise and considerable attention within the United States. Currently, Wheelock serves as the Jazz Studies Director and Percussion Coordinator at the University of Wyoming. He leads the Wyoming Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combos, Samba Bateria, Pan-Afro-Latin Drumming Group, and the UWYO Percussion Ensemble, dedicating his efforts to educating the next generation of musicians. He is also frequently invited as a guest artist and adjudicator at prestigious institutions such as Ohio State University, Central Michigan University, and Friends University.
